Terms & Conditions of Service

The following terms and conditions outline how Mama’s Moving Company operates. We kindly ask that you read carefully through the following terms of using our services. Booking service with us and/or submitting a deposit confirms that you have read, understand and agree to these terms.

Estimates

All estimates are approximate, and not guaranteed. We base them on our experience serving similar residencies. Every move is unique in nature. Factors such as the presence of stairs or elevators, distance from the residence to the truck parking area, transportation time, additional, unexpected moving requests, items that are not boxed and prepared to be moved, furniture disassembly etc. affect the service time.

 

Booking

We request a 10% deposit of the estimated total cost to book your move. Deposits are non-refundable and applied towards final the invoice. Availability of moving dates are not guaranteed until the deposit is received.

 

Cost

The cost of your move is determined by the actual completion time required. If your move takes less time than the estimate provided, we adjust your final invoice accordingly. If the move exceeds the estimated time, we continue to bill in 15-minute increments. Your move is billed from the time we leave our facility to the time we return to the facility. We are based on the border of South Berwick and York ME. 

 

Payment 

You will receive a final invoice via email, immediately following your move and payment is due in full upon receipt, less the non-refundable deposit. The client or a significant other must be present during the move and final inspection.

 

Tipping 

Tipping is not required however, it is customary to tip moving crews, upon satisfaction with their service. The tipping amount may vary based on the size, type, and move destination. Please note that Mama’s Moving Company owners will not accept tips if they are part of your crew.

 

Service Minimums

All services operate with a 2-hour minimum. If your move is complete in less than 2 hours, we encourage all customers to ask our movers to complete additional tasks for them until the minimum time has been met. Our crews take a mandatory & billable 15-minute rest every 4 hours.

 

Assembly & Disassembly 

We will assemble and disassemble furniture such as tables and beds as needed. Each of our vehicles carries tools and drills necessary for such tasks. Please be aware that while our movers are adept at assembly and disassembly, all furniture items are different and our crew members are unlikely to encountered your particular item before. Assembly and disassembly may add unexpected time to your move. Customers are responsible for completing all assembly by confirming that furniture adheres to the safety guidelines and instructions for the item. 

 

Furniture Protection  

Mama’s Moving Company will protect all furniture as needed. Moving pads/blankets, packing tape, mattress bags and plastic wrap are provided with each move. There is no additional cost for these materials and we will use as many as needed to protect your belongings. 

 

Walls & Hardwood Floors

Protecting the integrity of your walls and floors is a top priority for our crew. Unfortunately, some scenarios and items are prone to damage. Our movers are often asked to move heavy and bulky items such as safes, appliances, refrigerators, and pianos, etc. We are also frequently asked to move oversized furniture in narrow and tight hallways, doorways and stairways. Unfortunately, damage may result in floor and wall surfaces. If you wish to take this risk Mama’s Moving Company will not be responsible for the damage.

 

High-Value Items & Perishables 

Please identify high-value items prior to the completion of your move. Items that traditionally fit this definition include antiques, electronics, collectible items, art, mirrors or souvenirs. We are not responsible or items such as laptops, cell phones, iPods, iPods, jewelry, stamps, letters, medications, semi-precious and precious stones, collectibles, perishable food or personal items and anything of similar nature. We urge you to arrange the transportation of these items on your own.

 

Particle Board Furniture 

Our movers will maximize the protection of your furniture during the moving process. However, we cannot be held responsible for any damage done to press-board or compressed particle furniture, because the furniture of that type was not built to stand up to vibration and pressure that occurs during the move. The only safe method of transportation of such furniture is to disassemble it.

 

Specialty Items

Our team is experienced in relocating pianos, appliances, grandfather clocks, etc. However, no liability shall be provided for the mechanical or electrical derangement of pianos, radios, phonographs, clocks, refrigerators, television sets, automatic washers, or other instruments or appliances.

 

Items We Are Unable To Move

We cannot transport propane, alcohol, firearms, ammunition, live animals, any type of outdoor cooking appliance or any items illegal in nature. We cannot transport temperature-dependent food items from a fridge or freezer. Mama’s Moving Company assumes no responsibility for prohibited or illegal items that are included in moving boxes or containers without our knowledge. We cannot provide trash removal.

Safety

A crew leader for each individual move will determine the safety of each procedure. If a request is deemed unsafe, we reserve a right to refuse to perform such services due to safety concerns. Mama’s Moving Company will not assume liability for damages related to unusual moving procedures, including but not limited to, rotating items on the ends other than the supporting legs, overcrowded areas, complex staircases, sharp edges in hallways and doorways, hoisting and lowering items from the balconies, and weather-related damage.

 

Tolls, Street Meters, Parking & Tickets

Local tolls and street parking meters are to be paid by the customer. Parking is to be arranged by the customer and can require a town/city permit in certain cities. Tickets accrued due to the absence of parking permits and lack of adequate parking are to be paid by the customer.

 

Insurance

General Liability Coverage is included in each local move. Mama’s Moving Company does not provide cargo insurance. Should you purchase this additional, separate moving coverage, all claims will be handled by the moving insurance chosen.

 

Water Lines & Gas Lines

Mama’s Moving Company is not an appliance company. We do not provide or carry liability coverage for the re-connection of water and gas lines, pipes, and faucets. In the event customers insist on the re-connection of such lines, it is the customers’ responsibility to ensure that lines of washers, dryers, refrigerators, and faucets are connected properly to avoid accidents.
